IS 8737 is a forging grade which is primarily used in India for production of Gas Cylinder Valves and other parts related to valve systems. The properties of this grade are directed by The Bureau of Indian Standards commonly known as BIS. This alloy contains additional percentage of Manganese to improve the strength of the material. The hot forgeability rating for this alloy stands out to be excellent with a fair machinability rating.
