The name High Tensile Brass or High Strength Brass is achieved by additions of aluminum, iron, manganese, tin and sometimes nickel and silicon. The other name commonly referred to this Grade is MANGANESE BRONZE. Typical use of High Tensile Brass is in Marine Fittings, Architectural applications, Propellers, Shafts, deck fittings requiring high stress applications in corrosive environments.
The addition of Tin percentage helps in increasing the corrosion resistance of the alloy when it is used in marine, mining and mildly acidic environments, while the addition of aluminum gives a brighter finish with increase in hardness, yield stress and tensile strength.
Iron and manganese helps is improving hardness, yield stress and tensile strength. Some of the High Tensile Brasses are known to have excellent properties for Soldering and Brazing because of its High Strength Properties.
